Michelle Akers

As a member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame, Michelle Akers is a well-known former footballer of the U.S. Michelle Akers was born in Santa Clara, California, U.S. on Feb. 1, 1966. With China’s Sun Wen, she was awarded the name of FIFA Female Player of the Century. Akers is widely regarded as one of the greatest female footballers of her generation.

In 1985, she was a professional footballer of the United States women’s national soccer team. Attributing to her injury, she didn’t appear in the second game rather than the first game. After a World Cup, she was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome in 1994. And in 1995, she struggled with a concussion and her knee injuries. In the semi-final game, her team was defeated by the Norway side, under the heavy impacts of her knee injuries. She was one of winners of the 1996 Summer Olympics and the 1998 Goodwill Games. From 1991 to 1999, she played an important role in her team. In view of the great contributions to the United States women’s national team, she was awarded their highest reputation – FIFA Order of Merit.
